New York Giants Draft Analysis: Nicks Pick Sets Tone

Credit Jerry Reese for being cool under pressure. Also, thank the Raiders for taking Hayward-Bey. Had they not, I wouldn't have expected Nicks to fall into our lap.

In fact, in my previous write up, I never even entertained the idea. Hakeem Nicks is going to step right in and make a difference. He's 6'1", freakishly large hands, incredible vertical leap, he doesn't drop passes!

Enter round two...well well well...we needed a nasty outside linebacker that will attack the ball carrier and quarterback. We got him. I expect Clint Sintim to start out of the gate.

We landed a left tackle in William Beatty, who could have easily been selected in the top 18 or so...MONEY! He may prove valuable and be a starter in a couple of years.

Enter round three, where we landed a great wide out that broke all sorts of records.

If he can put up a third of those numbers, Ramses Barden can certainly play a great role mismatching opposing db's. The man towers the opposition standing at 6'6". I seem to remember another guy coming out of a small Division 1AA school by the name of Jerry Rice. How did he do? Need I say more.

Next we have Travis Beckum, the fourth tight end taken in the draft . Guess what? He is a wide receiver in disguise. Next, we needed another running back. Enter Andre Brown! A punishing back with soft hands that can also catch passes out of the back field.

We filled every hole that needed filling, without giving up the farm. My hope is our defense will reek so much havoc scoring and causing turnovers, that our offense will be looking at a short field more often than not. If our defense stays healthy, they are deep and nasty. Its almost not even fair!

If this ship sails right we can go as is. Although, I wouldn't mind giving up next years' number one pick for Boldin. Just so we have some veteran leadership. All in all, Jerry Reese may be G.M. of the year for the '09 campaign.

The only other added bonus we need is spectacular special teams play, which was pretty lack luster last year. THAT'S ALL FOR ME. I would like to hear opinions or comments...please shoot em my way. Also read my Soothsayer type article I wrote before the draft! Thanks.
