John Cena: Why His Title Reign Cannot End at the WWE Payback Pay-Per-View

You don't step on Superman's cape. You don't spit in the wind. You don't pull the mask of the Lone Ranger, and you don't take the WWE Title from John Cena.

What in the world is the WWE thinking? After fighting "demons" for more than a year, exorcising them by defeating The Rock at WrestleMania 29 and holding the WWE Title for less than two months so far, the company could possibly take the belt off of their biggest cash cow and hand it to one of the greenest wrestlers in the WWE?

He (Ryback) injured another WWE superstar at a SmackDown taping. Kofi Kingston will be out of action four to eight weeks

C'mon, man, are you serious? What would that solve? And besides Ryback, who would that really benefit in the long run?

Believe it or not, Cena is the best option the company has right now to carry the title. There is no Rock. CM Punk is on hiatus (by the way, he was at the Blackhawks game on Wednesday night, according to his Twitter account). Brock Lesnar has no true competitor to face him. Mark Henry is injured. Undertaker is on the mend.

Who else is there? Seriously, who is there?

Ryback is a big brute, a "Satan" as he has proclaimed himself to be as of Monday night, and when the two lock horns at WWE Payback, hopefully they can deliver like they did at Extreme Rules. But remember, there are no guarantees. Ryback's growth in the past few weeks has been important to the company and to the rivalry that has become bigger and better but has not reached a level the company may have hoped for.

Fans, including myself, still want to see Cena in matches with Punk, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, Kane, etc., because they represent "logical" opponents that create exciting matches. It's hard to believe Ryback can deliver an exciting match, one that makes fans and the media stop and think it is something they must see again.

And until the WWE can do that or Punk comes back or the company decides to put the belt on Brock Lesnar and have someone like Sheamus or Wade Barrett challenge him, the WWE will seriously need to change its structure, making wrestlers like Daniel Bryan, Barrett, Cody Rhodes and Curtis Axel its lead performers to show the company does not need Cena to carry a title. Until then, it really is Cena or nothing at all.
