Mincy's Illegal Hit Ejection at Spring Game a Teaching Tool for SEC Officials

Jonathon Mincy's hit on Dimitri Reese in Auburn's spring game led to an ejection, and though it was a borderline play, a video replay would not have overturned the ruling, according to the SEC. The NCAA strengthened its "targeting" rule in March, adding automatic ejection of any player flagged for targeting and contacting a defensive player above the shoulders. The SEC plans to also use video review next fall, but that capability was not available at the Tigers' A-Day game on April 20.
