The Virginia Tech Hokies are now a lock for the ACC Tournament Championship, but who will play them in the final game on Sunday? Saturday’s action will determine that and will feature a couple of other exciting games to watch as well.
Here’s where and when to watch all three games on Saturday, along with some quick background information on each game.
No. 2 Florida State vs. No. 3 Virginia
Coverage begins at 11 a.m. ET on ESPN3
The ACC tournament has not been kind to the Seminoles. They’ve lost both of their games up to this point, including a heartbreaking loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies on Thursday. Mark Zagunis hit a home run in the ninth inning for the Hokies to grab a 3-2 win over the Seminoles.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers were able to rebound from a loss against the Hokies by hammering the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 8-2. Nick Howard and Kenny Towns had back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning to help the top hitting team in the ACC get back on track.
Neither team is in the running for the championship game, but both are looking to end the tournament on a positive note. The Seminoles will be looking to at least come away with one win from the tourney, while the Seminoles will be looking to show off their offensive power a bit more.
No. 5 Clemson vs. No. 8 Miami
Coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN3
No team has struggled more in the tournament than the Hurricanes. They lost their first game against the Tar Heels 10-0, then fell to the Wolfpack 7-1 on Friday.
For the Tigers, they lost a close game to N.C. State 6-3, then lost in 14 innings to the Tar Heels.
Neither team has won a game in this tournament, and both will be looking to end the tournament with at least something to take home.
No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 4 N.C. State
Coverage Begins at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN3
This is the game that everyone will be watching, as the winner will advance to the ACC championship to play the Virginia Tech Hokies.
The Tar Heels easily won their first game against Miami 10-0, but barely pulled off a win against Clemson. The game went 14 innings, but a five-run rally helped them pull out the win, 12-7.
It’s been a solid outing in the tournament for the Wolfpack. They won their first game against Clemson 6-3, then came back and torched Miami 7-1.
The Wolfpack will be looking to upset the top-seeded Tar Heels for a spot in the ACC championship game. However, the Tar Heels have shown they can be an offensive force in the tournament, making this game one of the more exciting games to watch in the tourney.
