Vitor Belfort is back in the running for a middleweight title shot following a knockout of Michael Bisping. With an impressive win over Luke Rockhold at UFC on FX 8, Belfort may just be named the top 185-pound contender.
Rockhold will make his UFC debut against Belfort on Saturday. The American Kickboxing Academy product won all of his fights under the Strikeforce banner and defended the promotion's middleweight belt in his past two appearances.
Another former Strikeforce titleholder is also set to step into the Octagon for the first time at UFC on FX 8.
Ronaldo Souza, who preceded Rockhold as Strikeforce's 185-pound king, will be welcomed to the UFC roster by Chris Camozzi. Souza was originally slated to meet a top-10 opponent in Costa Philippou, but an injury put a halt to that matchup.
Camozzi was already booked to fight Rafael Natal on Saturday, so he was promoted to the co-main event. Natal will instead meet UFC newcomer JoaoZeferino.
UFC on FX 8 will take place at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua, Brazil. On Friday, the fighters will hit the scales at 7 p.m. ET. Video of the weigh-ins will be streamed live on the above video player.
