Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale was scratched from Wednesday night's start against Boston because of tendinitis in his left pitching shoulder. The Sox made the announcement in the top of the second inning of Tuesday's game, adding that the decision was made as a precautionary measure. Fellow left-hander Hector Santiago will start in Sale's spot.
