Dolph Ziggler is now World heavyweight champion, yet that should not excuse him from yet another incredible match with Daniel Bryan. In fact, the two Superstars are just one prime example of a World title feud WWE fans should have the pleasure of seeing this year.
Who should John Cena feud with in the coming year as WWE champion? Well, I already provided a few fresh feuds for the leader of the Cenation. However, this time I discuss some old foes as well.
Perhaps neither Cena nor Ziggler will be a World champion later this year. Then what World title feuds could we see in 2013?
Here are five World title feuds that could happen in WWE this year that should be considered must-see among the WWE Universe.
In a feud for the World heavyweight title, Dolph Ziggler should defend the gold against current tag team champion Daniel Bryan. The two Superstars have squared off time and time again on WWE TV, and their matches are always an instant classic.
Although Bryan is currently in the popular and very successful tag team of Hell No with Kane, the team may be losing its titles very soon.
On Sunday, at Extreme Rules, Bryan and Kane will defend the tag titles against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns of The Shield. With Dean Ambrose facing United States champion Kofi Kingston, all three members of The Shield will likely win both matches. This would open the door for Bryan and Kane to go their separate ways.
By the time Ziggler returns from his concussion and finishes his feud with Alberto Del Rio, Daniel Bryan will be ready and waiting for his turn.
John Cena is set to schedule the WWE title against Ryback at Extreme Rules, while Brock Lesnar will hopefully finish his feud with Triple H. If Cena is successful, a WWE Championship feud with Brock Lesnar would be quite intriguing.
Lesnar needs to be in a more meaningful feud. His feuds with Triple H and John Cena recently haven’t meant much. Would the company put the big title around the waist of Brock Lesnar?
Both last year at Extreme Rules and during Lesnar’s first run in WWE, he has feuded with John Cena. However, this time it would be different with a spot at the top of the company on the line. Cena and Lesnar’s match last May was one of the most talked-about matches in a long time. They pushed the line to the ultimate extreme. Pun intended.
Big E Langston may be Dolph Ziggler’s bodyguard, but there have already been hints that a future feud between the two could happen. When Ziggler and AJ were canoodling backstage, the World heavyweight champion ordered Langston to get out of their sight.
It seems as though we could be witnessing a bit of foreshadowing of a break up between Superstar and bodyguard.
It may remind many WWE fans of Shawn Michaels and Diesel, or even Michaels and Psycho Sid. Both Diesel and Sid were Michaels’ bodyguards at one time, respectively, only for the two to split up.
While Ziggler is likely to have an extended run as champion after holding the Money in the Briefcase for nine months, WWE fans must see a feud between Ziggler and Langston later in 2013.
If John Cena is unsuccessful for the first time at Extreme Rules, Ryback can still enter a feud with Brock Lesnar for the WWE title. Both Superstars are known for their strength and large frames, but right now both are heels. It would take one to turn babyface in order for the feud to become a bit more realistic.
With Ryback recently turning heel, it would have to be Brock Lesnar turning into a fan favorite. Lesnar is better fit as a heel with Paul Heyman serving as his mouthpiece. At the same time, why can’t Lesnar be given a babyface manager?
While neither CM Punk nor Brock Lesnar is in a World title picture right now, it is a feud that is must-see in 2013. Punk is off WWE TV right now, and he will most likely only return for a high-profile feud. He has had countless matches and feuds with John Cena, Ryback, Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio. The one Superstar who would be most intriguing to see Punk feud with is Lesnar.
It is most intriguing as it puts Paul Heyman in a very interesting position. The obvious move would be to have Heyman and Lesnar turn on Punk. Lesnar needs Heyman to do his talking, while CM Punk certainly doesn’t.
