John Swofford Says Miami's Self-Imposed Sanctions Were Strong

ACC Commissioner John Swofford sympathizes with the University of Miami. Swofford told CBSSports.com during the ACC's spring meetings he felt Miami self-imposed strong penalties following an extensive review of former booster Nevin Shapiro's improper contact with Miami athletes. Shapiro, who is serving 20 years in prison for his role in a Ponzi scheme, said he provided Miami Hurricanes recruits and athletes with a slew of benefits in violation of NCAA rules.
