Cincinnati Reds Continue Slide

The Reds came into Tuesday nights game against the Astros losing three of their last four.  WIth their ace Aaron Harrang on the mound they hoped they could jump to the other side and get back into the win column.

However that did not happen with  the Astros winning the game 8-3. Astro pitcher Wandy Rodriquez pitching a gem by only allowing one run in seven innings pitched.  His counterpart Harrang struggled by allowing six runs (five earned) in only five innings pitched.

Mike Lincoln didn't help the matter by allowing two runs over an innings.  Lincoln whose ERA jumped up to 15.12 over the year is making it look like last year was a fluke.

If he didn't sign a two year contract in the off season he would most likely be sent down in exchange for Carlos Fisher who is tearing up the international league with a 1.80 era and 12 strikeouts in 10 innings.

Once again the bats didn't come through.  Two of the runs came on meaningless home runs by Laynce Nix and Brandon Phillips in the eighth and ninth inning respectively.  Joey Votto had himself a rare off day going 0-3, and the reds showed once again how much trouble they have againts lefties.

Next up for the reds is the final game of the series against the Astros with Edison Volquez on the mound.

Let's hope Edison has a better time at finding the strike zone than he did in his last start where he allowed seven free passes while only allowing one hit.  If he is able to find the strike zone the reds have a good chance of winning the game and hopefully putting an end to their most recent slide.
