The Broward County Sheriff's office told NFL.com that Chad Johnson turned himself in at courthouse on Monday. Court documents confirm that Johnson was indeed arrested.

The sheriff's office confirmed last week that Johnson failed to meet with probation specialists on Feb. 15 and March 15. Johnson also failed to show proof of enrollment and completion of the 'Batterers Intervention Program.' The probation stemmed from when Johnson was charged with domestic battery last Aug. 11.

A judge issued the warrant on May 7. The Broward County District Attorney's Office told TMZ that Johnson violated the terms of his probation by not reporting to his probation officer.

A hearing will take place now that he is in custody. If it is determined that he violated his probation, jail time is a possibility, per TMZ.

Johnson was a six-time Pro Bowler for the Cincinnati Bengals, but eventually, his outspoken antics did not match up to his on-field production.

The aforementioned domestic violence incident got him released from the Miami Dolphins before he could get his career back on track in 2012. That was preceded by a disappointing previous campaign with the New England Patriots, where Johnson caught a career-low 15 passes for 276 yards. He found the end zone just once.

In his 12-year career, though, Johnson has registered 766 catches for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns.

This latest run-in with the law likely dashes any existing hope that the 35-year-old Johnson has of playing in the league again.
