The Memphis Grizzlies stunned the Oklahoma City Thunder in front of their home fans 88-84 to take Game 5 and their Western Conference series on Wednesday.
Having dominated the Thunder (who were without Russell Westbrook) in the previous three games, the Grizzlies again looked to be en route to a huge road victory when they took a 12-point lead with them into the halftime break. However, as has so often been the case with the Thunder this year, they rallied back in the third quarter and quickly closed the gap heading into the fourth quarter.
Yet thanks to some strong defense and a key miss or two by the home team, Memphis was able to hang on for the win and clinch its first ever Western Conference Finals berth, where it'll face either the San Antonio Spurs or the Golden State Warriors.
Zach Randolph led all scorers with 28 points and 14 rebounds in the win, with Mike Conley also chiming in with 13 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
