Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was selected to the All-Rookie Second Team. Kidd-Gilchrist becomes the sixth Bobcats player to receive All-Rookie honors, joining Emeka Okafor (First Team, 2004-05), Raymond Felton (Second Team, 2005-06), Walter Herrmann (Second Team, 2006-07), Adam Morrison (Second Team, 2006-07) and D.J. Augustin (Second Team, 2008-09). Kidd-Gilchrist appeared in 78 games this season (77 starts) with averages of 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.9 blocks in 26.0 minutes. He finished the season ranked fifth among NBA rookies in rebounding, sixth in scoring, sixth in blocks, tied for seventh in minutes played, ninth in field goal percentage (.458) and 11th in assists.
