Joe Lauzon is going home for his next fight. He returns to Boston for the upcoming UFC on Fox Sports 1 card, landing in the New England city on August 17.
The longtime Massachusetts resident will face off with former Ultimate Fighter runner-up Michael Johnson, according to MMA Weekly.
The UFC will return to Boston for the first time since 2010, and Lauzon can proudly say he's been scheduled for both cards. In his last fight at TD Garden, Lauzon decimated Gabe Ruediger in a one-sided fight that ended with an armbar submission at just over two minutes into the fight.
Lauzon has gone 2-2 over his last four fights and looks to get back on the winning track following a loss to Jim Miller in his last trip to the Octagon.
While his 2012 record reads as one win and one loss, Lauzon did manage to score several post-fight bonuses for his efforts, including two Fight of the Night purses as well as a Submission of the Night award for his win over Jamie Varner in August.
Now Lauzon returns to action for the first time in 2013 as part of the Fox Sports 1 network launch, with a mission to make his hometown proud while racking up another bonus along the way.
Hoping to derail Lauzon's return is Johnson, who will be looking to stop his own two-fight skid. Following three consecutive wins, Johnson has fallen on harder times of late. He fell to another former TUF competitor in Myles Jury at UFC 155 and most recently lost via submission to Reza Madadi in April's Sweden card.
