Tiger Woods entered the final round of the Players Championship tied with Sergio Garcia and David Lingmerth at -11. He was solid throughout the early portion of the round, flushing iron approach shots and finding fairways with his five-wood.

All that changed with a disastrous tee shot at the 14th hole.

Prior to his arrival at the tee, Tiger Woods looked to be cruising to victory. An awful chunked tee shot into the water and the resultant double bogey dropped Woods back into a tie for the lead, opening the door for the golfers behind him, including Sergio Garcia.

The two battled down the stretch, both birdieing the par-five 16th hole. However, after Tiger parred the 17th with a tidy two-putt, Garcia, playing in the group behind him, hit his tee shot in the water ending the Spaniard's hopes of victory.

When David Lingmerth was unable to birdie the 18th, Tiger Woods stood alone atop the leaderboard as the winner of the 2013 Players Championship.

Woods is now 53-4 in his career when entering the final round with the lead/a share of the lead. The victory was his fourth on tour this year and marks the fastest the golfer has reached the four win mark in a season.
