During Miz’s opening statements on RAW, he said something to the effect: “I am tired of seeing the same wrestlers year after year in the main event. He went on to say that he will be raising to the top and challenged Cena right there and then.

Of course we all know Cena wouldn’t show up, not because he was scared, but because he was injured in his “Last Man Standing” match.

He made a very valid point that’s been pointed out many times by the fine people here at B/R Wrestling. More people need to step up to the main event level.

Watching RAW last night, I can see a few stars that might be getting groomed for main event status:

MVP: He had to a great match with Orton and MVP held his own against the champ. It’s too bad Shane did the run in and grabbed the spotlight for himself.

Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes: These guys are definitely getting the “rub” from Orton and it makes them stand out to the casual fans as a big deal, never mind us smarks, the casual fans make the stars.

There are other stars that could make the step up, but I haven’t seen enough of them to comment.

I think what Miz doesn’t get is that the casual fans are what keeps the old main eventers around. Casual fans don’t analyze or critique every show or wrestler, they just want to be entertained by who they believe are the biggest stars.

Cena, Orton, HHH, HBK, Batista, and Edge all get the most reactions from the crowd and Vince knows this. These are wrestlers he can count on to sell PPVs.
