The "Money in the Bank" ladder match has gained popularity among pro wrestling fans in a very short time. But, quite a lot of people don't know the historical background of this match.

Here I discus the historical background of the MITB ladder match and some facts and statistics about it.

In the WWE storylines, the concept of the match was introduced by Chris Jericho, who pitched the idea to then-Raw GM, Eric Bischoff.

Bischoff liked the idea and promptly signed it for WrestleMania. From then on, the MITB ladder match has been a staple of every Wrestlemania.

As per the rules, the winner of the match can cash in his contract for any title anytime, anywhere.
