Earlier today, Leonard Garcia took to Twitter to announce that he had been released by the UFC. The cuts did not stop with Garcia, as the promotion let six other fighters go.
Like Garcia, Bart Palaszewski announced his release via Twitter:
Palaszewski (36-17) was winless in his last three UFC bouts prior to his release, with his most recent defeat coming on the April 13 finale card of season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter. Cole Miller submitted Palaszewski at the 4:23 mark of Round 1 in that contest.
Here's a list of other fighters that were released (via MMAJunkie).
Reuben Duran (8-5-1) was released after going 1-3 during his stint with the UFC. Duran’s last fight with the promotion was a unanimous decision loss to George Roop on the UFC 158 preliminary card.
Kurt Holobaugh’s (9-2) stint with the UFC lasted one fight. Holobaugh, a transfer from Strikeforce, made his UFC debut against Steven Siler at UFC 159. Siler took the victory on the judges' scorecards (29-28 x 3).
Justin Lawrence (4-2) earned “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout of the Night” honors in his UFC debut on The Ultimate Fighter 15 finale card. Following that win, Lawrence went 0-2, with both of those losses coming via stoppage.
Sam Sicilia (11-3) debuted with the UFC in June of last year. At the time, Sicilia was 10-1 as a professional. He earned a second-round knockout victory over Cristiano Marcello in that fight, but went 0-2 in his next two fights.
Issei Tamura (7-4) came to the UFC from the Shooto organization. During a three-fight run with the UFC, Tamura went 1-3. Tamura was victorious in his debut but lost his next two contests via second-round knockout.
