Both Chelsea and Tottenham are vying for a highly-coveted spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.
The Spurs are three points behind Rafa Benitez's men and need this victory in order to keep the team's hopes for UCL football next season alive.
Here are the players who must shine bright for Tottenham in order for the team to earn a victory at Stamford Bridge.
Jermain Defoe/Emmanuel Adebayor
It's uncertain who will start up front for the Spurs against Chelsea. Andre Villas-Boas may decide to stick with Emmanuel Adebayor or take a chance on Jermain Defoe.
Whoever he goes with must be prepared to contribute to the team.
The striker situation has been dire all season for Tottenham. Either one of these two must step up. Adebayor has been underwhelming, but so has Defoe.
Obviously Gareth Bale must play well in order for the team to realistically have a shot against Chelsea, but he cannot do it by himself. It is easier for him to take charge and lead the team to victory against teams like Southampton, but not Chelsea. He needs all the help he can get in this game.
Both need to add to their tallies against Chelsea if the team wants a victory. It is simply unacceptable that they have been less than stellar all season long.
This is their chance to prove their worth again.
Another player who must step up if given the chance is Gylfi Sigurdsson. The Icelandic man has been phenomenal at certain points this season and has provided a spark when on the field.
Tottenham needs him to be effective against Chelsea whether he is in the starting 11 or coming off the bench.
Sigurdsson has the ability to change a game once he steps onto the field. He provides exceptional balls forward and can be potent from long range.
If Sigurdsson plays well, Tottenham has a great chance at winning this match.
He could be the X-factor if he gets on the field.
The Back Four
It would be extremely helpful to the Spurs if they do not concede any goals. This will come down to the defense having a great game. More than likely the back four will be Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson, Jan Vertonghen and Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
All must do their part to stop Chelsea's attacking players, but they will have their hands full with Eden Hazard, Juan Mata and even Fernando Torres.
A lot of the responsibility will fall on Dawson and Vertonghen's shoulders, but they have the ability to be formidable.
Also, both players can be deadly on the Spurs' set-pieces. If either manages to nab a goal, it would be a tremendous help.
Bale cannot do it all, and most likely will not be able to against a team like Chelsea. Every player must be at their best.
This season, Tottenham has waited late on numerous occasions to grab a victory. They cannot afford to do this again. It is too dangerous and will be near impossible against a team of this caliber.
The team needs this win. It is the most important game of the season so far. If the Spurs lose, Chelsea will go six points clear of them, and Arsenal will remain two points ahead.
The Champions League is within Tottenham's grasp, but it can easily slip away with a loss to the Blues.
