New York picked up a much needed victory over Washington on Monday night in Manhattan, Derek Stepan scored the game-winner with 6:25 remaining in regulation to propel the Rangers to a 4-3 win, tripping the Capitals' series advantage to 2-1.
The game featured four ties and heated play on both ends of the ice. Washington tallied the game's first goal but couldn't keep the Rangers off the scoreboard like it did in D.C., where New York managed just one goal in the series' first two contests.
Instead of closing in on an opening-series sweep, Washington will head to Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night hoping to stave off a series-tying Rangers victory.
Final: New York 4, Washington 3
