Paul Pierce's fiancee, Julie Landrum, gave birth to their daughter Prianna Lee on Friday night.  Pierce is expected to miss the game in Charlotte against the Bobcats.

The Boston Herald reported Saturday morning that Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers was leaning toward benching both Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen as an attempt to rest his stars before the beginning of what could be a deep playoff run.

My belief is that Doc will start Tony Allen, Leon Powe, and may possibly give a struggling Eddie House the chance to return to his natural role as a shooting guard.

Tonight's match-up does not mean much to either teams' overall season outlook, however, the Celtics will break the NBA's single-season record for increased wins.  They are currently tied with the 1997-98 San Antonio Spurs with 36 wins (more than the previous season).

A win for the Celtics would guarantee the number one seed overall and earn Boston home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
