CM Punk: 3 Realistic Feuds for the Straight-Edge Superstar Upon His WWE Return

After CM Punk fell short in his four-and-a-half-star match at WrestleMania 29 against The Undertaker, the “voice of the voiceless” shockingly lost his voice on the April 15 edition of Monday Night Raw and left without saying a word. Since walking out, there has been speculation as to whether or not Punk will turn face upon his return.

CM Punk is a professional wrestler that is truly gifted. He can play a hilarious, fan favorite babyface or be the most disgusting, vile heel you’ve ever seen. Because of these traits and the way he left the WWE, one thing’s for sure: Punk’s return will be unpredictable and exciting whether he comes back as a face or a heel. Also, it seems as if Punk will return sooner than expected.

So, what does the WWE have planned for the Second City Saint in the near future? Who will the former WWE champion feud with upon his return?

Brock Lesnar

A feud between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar would not only be legendary but something refreshing and new. Punk and Lesnar have never met in the ring before, but that’s mainly because both of them are heels and are under the management of Paul Heyman. However, if this feud were to happen, the logical thing for the WWE to do is to have CM Punk return as a face.

While Punk has been on the sidelines, Paul Heyman has supported and been in the corner of Brock Lesnar. Punk isn’t the kind of guy who gets jealous, but a feud could spark between him and Lesnar if Heyman was somehow forced to choose (who to manage) between the two.

Perhaps Lesnar forces Heyman to make a decision or else he’s going to leave the WWE forever. If this angle happened, the fans would feel sympathy for Punk and it would be a clear and decisive face turn.

Without a doubt, a feud between CM punk and Brock Lesnar would be epic. Just imagine CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match where the winner gets the managerial duties of one Paul Heyman.

John Cena

CM Punk may have a few warm up matches or a quick one-to-two match feud when he comes back to the WWE, but eventually, he’s going to gun down the WWE Champion, John Cena. This is of course if Punk returns to the WWE as a heel.

How many great matches have CM Punk and John Cena given the WWE Universe over the past few years? Money in the Bank 2011, Night of Champions 2012 and the February 15 edition of Monday Night Raw are all instant classics. Should CM Punk return and feud with John Cena, it’s safe to say that the two mega-stars would put on a number of fantastic performances.

The WWE would be smart to have Punk and Cena feud over the WWE title because the rivalry between John Cena and CM Punk is 100 percent personal and will never end. I understand that the WWE needs to be pushing new stars, but a John Cena and CM Punk feud would feel fresh after watching that masterpiece on the February 15 Raw.

Punk and Cena are two of the best Superstars when it comes to talking on a microphone, so you know their promos and insults towards one another is a formula for fun and entertaining television.

Randy Orton

In order for this feud to happen, CM Punk would need to come back as a face after Randy Orton turns heel. Orton and Punk have tremendous in-ring chemistry with one another and a new rivalry between the two could really help out “The Viper”.

The feud between Randy Orton and CM Punk happened in 2011 and ended at WrestleMania 27. On the biggest stage of them all, Orton hit the RKO on Punk and gained the victory. At that time, Orton was one of the biggest stars in the company, but a lot can change in two years.

In 2013, the roles have been reversed when it comes to CM Punk and Randy Orton. Back in 2011, Orton was arguably the No. 2 guy in the WWE next to John Cena while Punk was an average mid-card heel that was on the rise. Of course, this is before Punk’s memorable feud with Cena.

Nowadays, CM Punk is the clear No. 2 guy next to Cena while Orton has been stuck in neutral in the mid-card. Let’s get one thing straight: Randy Orton is not a mid-card wrestler and deserves to be in the WWE or World Title picture.

If CM Punk returns as a face and has a compelling and evenly matched feud with Randy Orton, Orton could finally get the momentum he needs in order to become that evil, sinister and unstoppable force we saw back in 2007 and 2009.

Everyone loves a heel Randy Orton, don’t they?
