WWE Extreme Rules 2013: Putting Tag Belts on The Shield Is the Right Move
The Freebirds are considered the greatest three-man tag team of all time. No disrespect to the Von Erichs or the Russians (Ivan and Nikita Koloff and Krusher Kruschev) intended. But if you have been lost in a cave or been following Kim Kardashian's weight gain the past few months, there is this upstart trio (not 3MB) who are taking over the WWE like they have owned the joint for some time.
Better than nWo good. Degeneration X aggressive and Road Warriors-like domination. They have beaten everyone in their path toward the top and I suspect the WWE has plans for them at Extreme Rules involving a certain tag team that holds gold while maybe the third member is set for a date with a certain Dead Man.
Should The Shield win the WWE Tag Titles?
Yes, I am being vague and obvious in the first place, but seriously, if the WWE does not capitalize on The Shield soon by having them win gold, then the entire premise of the angle is lost. This is as good as domination gets in this business. There is no need to add numbers to this group, spread them thin or try to create drama within the ranks.
The move makes too much sense now. Having not lost, much like The Outsiders, who comes forward and tries to make them "mortal." Maybe a tag team we have not seen yet (Chris Jericho and The Miz or MVP and R-Truth).
The company needs to move forward with this and also find new avenues for Team Hell No. Daniel Bryan needs a run with Dolph Ziggler. Kane needs a run with another turn (against Undertaker?) .Time to forget comedy, time to relate to the fans who need more heroes to cheer for.
And everything is still linked to the evil of three guys who want to be better than their forefathers, better than the champions of the past, better than those in front of them.
The time is now to see if title success can take them to a higher level.
