It appears Shane Victorino may avoid the disabled list. Victorino hasn't played since leaving Wednesday's game with a recurrence of tightness in his lower back, a problem that previously caused the Red Sox right fielder to miss both games of an April 21 doubleheader. But before the Sox left today for a road trip that opens tomorrow night in Toronto, manager John Farrell said Victorino is "gradually improving" and that the team is hopeful he will be ready to play "at some point in the series" against the Blue Jays.
