It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Cornell Big Red over the Princeton Tigers at the Big City Classic in MetLife Stadium yesterday afternoon.

The Big Red jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, finishing off a perfect conference record in the regular season. As the Ivy League champs, Cornell will host the Ivy League Tournament in Ithaca, N.Y., next weekend.

Tewaaraton Trophy nominee Rob Pannell may have won the award with his performance yesterday. The senior attacker showed his depth of skills and recorded five goals and four assists.

He was able to beat Princeton defenders off the dodge from behind the cage, finishing the goals with either beautiful jump-shots or no-look rips to the top corners.

His line-mate, Steve Mock, was crafty in his off-ball movements and was able to score four goals and add an assist. Connor Buczek also had four goals for the Big Red.

Princeton's offense could never get a rhythm going. Despite flashes of confidence, there was little consistency in the power of the Tiger attack. Sophomore attacker Mike MacDonald had four goals and an assist in the game, while Kip Orban finished with three goals and an assist.

The Cornell defense did a fantastic job in containing Tom Schreiber and Jake Froccaro on the Tigers' first midfield line. The Big Red were quick to double-team the talented pair, and AJ Fiore was fantastic in goal.

These two teams will meet again this Friday night in the Ivy League Tournament. The game will start immediately following the match-up between Penn and Yale.
