Sydni Paige Russell: New Cardinals CB Tyrann Mathieu's Girlfriend
There was hardly a bigger name entering the draft than Tyrann Mathieu, which means his lovely girlfriend, Sydni Paige Russell, should prepare for some added fame as her boyfriend heads into the NFL.
The wait finally ended on Friday when Mathieu was taken by the Cardinals with the seventh pick in the third round (No. 69 overall).
The wait may have been arduous for others but not for the man affectionately known as the Honey Badger.
As NFL on ESPN found out, the young athlete was keeping cool while shooting some pool.
Then there was this image of him with his support system, featuring a cameo of his lovely girlfriend, via Big Lead.
At long last, the wait was over and it was time to celebrate.
Paige is actually a New Orleans Pelicans cheerleader, a troupe affectionately known as Honeybees by fans. Seeing as how the Hornets transitioned to the Pelicans, they will need a new cute moniker.
Paige also offered the following at the Honeybees website:
I love the positive energy you get from just being a part of this amazing dance team. People truly look up to you and it is so honoring! I also enjoy our workouts and practices because we work so hard but we also have fun doing it. I'm super excited for my first season!
I love to hang out with my friends, watch movies and go out to eat! It doesn't take a lot to make me happy and a good meal can do the job!
While there isn't a whole lot known about Paige other than what has been presented, Larry Brown Sports helps us out on specifics.
It seems the two have been dating since 2011 and, despite some tumult in the relationship and in Mathieu's life, have continued to be rather flirtatious online.
While the images have been deleted, the report references a cake Mathieu gave his girlfriend that read, "Sydni Mathieu." There was also another image posted to Instagram (since deleted) that referred to the athlete as "hubby to be."
With hard times behind them, the couple can celebrate the remarkable news that Mathieu is an NFL player at long last.
