The Miami Dolphins have had a tough time this season.  But the problem hasn't been the inability to string together some decent wins (Well, that was an effect of the big problem) but they had a hard time getting 1 win.

They finally found a team in the Baltimore Ravens that was even harder on its luck (Which is hard to do when you are well into the season and without a win) and they pulled off an overtime thriller. (It was a thriller...right?)

They had some trouble with offense, defense, special teams, ownership, fans, the hot dog stand, anything else that touched the Miami Dolphins instantly turned to ash.

So who do you draft when you need to fill almost every position on your roster and the best player in the draft plays at the only position where you have a good player?

Well, I am going to break down the needs of this team and get through the top 10 drafting teams in 10 articles without making an official pick.

Possible Draft Directions

Last year their quarterback play, well, awful (I couldn't think of a word worse than that).  But they signed Josh McCown so they might not be looking to fill quarterback with this pick. (Then again, I'm not exactly sure that McCown is the person to make that statement with)

They could go for DT Glenn Dorsey, but questions linger about his health, and they already have 6 DT's on their official roster, adding another to the mix would make the job even tougher for that coaching staff.

They could take the Chris Long route so that they can have another explosive player coming off the edge opposite Jason Taylor.  This seems the most practical route and helping the defense is important.

They definitely need a wide receiver, but with the best player being DeSean Jackson, I don't think that they would grab him, especially after the Ted Ginn debacle of last season, but look for some draft help at that position a little later.

Their offensive line needs a ton of help, but I'm also not sure that any player deserves to go that high that plays on the offensive line.  But the 2nd and 3rd round would be good times to look at some help in the trenches.

Their defensive backfield was, well, just what you would expect from the Miami Dolphins.  Again, nobody that plays that position warrants the 1st overall pick.

The most interesting position with #1 overall pick is RB.  They already have Ronnie Brown, who is the best player on the offense.  But they could take Darren McFadden, who is drawing comparisons to Adrian "All Day" Peterson.

So the Dolphins have a tough call to make this season, should they take the possible trade that the Cowboys could want to make.  That would give them more picks, which could be exactly what this team needs.

  1. Dorsey won't work for the Tuna's 3-4.

All signs are that Cowboys have no interest (and why should they trade up to the big contract at #1 when they could get Mcfaden at #3 or #5.

Not at #1, but watch for a TE.

  2. I not sure why Darren McFadden is being said to be picked 4th or even 6th but I'm pretty sure it is a ploy to let other teams with high picks think they have a chance and can actually get lucky by having him fall in their laps at those spots. There is no way the jets or raiders get him. The Dolphins have made some bad choices over years but, this year we have one of the best draft selector around and there is no way he lets a talent like McFadden slip throw his fingers. Sure Jake Long, Glen Dorsey, and I guess even Chris Long are guys you might consider but, when your giving that much money to a player you can't afford to give it to anyone but a guy who can truley entertain people and sell tickets in order to recoop that money.

  3. McFadden is sooo good the Rams are even stupid enough to think they have a chance at Mcfadden. But they don't. They're all ready to ship Stephen Jackson down the river to get McFadden so what does that Tell you about how good McFadden is going to be. What McFadden did at his college was truley unbelievable when you consider who he did it against - the SEC which might only be the toughest division ever. Now people compare McFadden to Peterson and I think that is unfair. Unfair to McFadden becuase Peterson is not in the same class as McFadden. He has Hutchenson blocking for him.
Look what happened to Sean Alexander without Hutchinson. McFadden fall to numcer 2,3,4,5 or 6 he will go to a team that will enjoy is services for many years. Add in the 6'7'' Joe Flacco and you have the most dynamic offensive skills players in the business Ginn Jr included. We will have a high pick next year becuase our defense is a mess too. With next years high pick we get that killer left tackle and finally Dolphin fans can enjoy football again!

    Big Nick
