Manchester United: Patrice Evra Puts the Bite on Suarez in Title Celebration

You have to hand it to Manchester United defender Patrice Evra for taking a light bite during the Premier League title celebrations on Monday night.

A plastic (well, we hope it was plastic) severed arm was thrown on to the Old Trafford pitch in the direction of the France international amid the delight of claiming a 20th league title following the 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Monday.

Evra picked it up and went to take a bite out of it, with many believing the action to be a prank at the expense of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguay international was caught up in controversy again this weekend after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during the 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday.

Suarez, who apologised for the incident after the match, has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association and is expected to be handed a suspension which could end his season with the Merseyside club prematurely.

In December 2011, Suarez was banned for eight matches and fined £40,000 for racially abusing Evra during a Premier League match at Anfield in October of the same year (The Guardian).

However, when the two men lined up before the return match at Old Trafford in February 2012, Suarez refused to shake the hand of the defender before the game (BBC Sport).

The two men did bury the hatchet when they shook hands before the first league game between Liverpool and United this season in September (Daily Mail).
