Back in spring training, Jonathan Pettibone described himself as being “on Cloud 9” when he was grouped with Cole Hamels, Roy Halladay and Kyle Kendrick during a team golf outing. Now Pettibone is in the same starting rotation as the aforementioned threesome. The Phillies will add the 22-year-old right-hander to their active roster Monday and he will make his major-league debut that night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He replaces John Lannan, who was placed on the disabled list with a strained left quadriceps tendon after his last start.
