CINCINNATI Even in this game of failure, Juan Pierre couldn't recall personal shortcomings on this scale, not six straight times as was the case in Saturday's 13-inning, 3-2 loss to the Reds. What bothered him most was an unsuccessful bid to put down a bunt in the fifth. That would have given Placido Polanco a go-ahead, two-run double instead of a game-tying RBI hit. That's the way it stayed until Shin-Soo Choo opened the 13th with a double off Steve Cishek and scored the winning run three batters later on Brandon Phillips' sacrifice fly.
