With Atlantic Division bragging rights and a place in the second round of the 2013 NBA playoffs both at stake, the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics came into Game 1 of their series with championship thoughts in mind.
Both missing key pieces (Rajon Rondo in Boston and Amar'e Stoudemire in New York), the Knicks and Celtics continued their regular-season rivalry at Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon.
Carmelo Anthony averaged 36.9 points in the month of April to lead the Knicks to the No. 2 seed and home-court advantage, while wily veterans Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are looking to make one last run at the NBA finals.
