Packers Big Board: Final Pre-Draft Update

The Green Bay Packers and Ted Thompson know that they will have a number of options when the 2013 NFL draft starts tonight. The Packers have the 26th pick in the first round and will have a number of players to choose from.

The Packers might also trade back to garner some additional picks in the draft. I don't see the Packers trading up in the first round, although they might use that tactic later in the draft.

Why? When I talked to Chris Landry last week on the Steve Duemig show, he told me that he only had 22 players rated with first-round grades, while he gave a whopping 68 players second-round grades.

The big board (top ten) I have set up for the Packers includes players who could be available at pick No. 26. In fact, I think there is a decent chance that the player the Packers select tonight is included in this group.

I have also listed the top five players in terms of position. It's important to know, however, that I'm not strictly rating the players in terms of overall talent or specific skill sets. Rather, I'm rating the players on where I think the Packers might chose a player from that positional area, and also what the Packers are looking for from that position.

Case in point is the ratings I have done for the quarterback position. Every quarterback I have listed is a late-round possibility in this draft. Why? Because I don't think the Packers will draft a quarterback until late in the draft, if at all.

The same goes with the offensive linemen. I believe the Packers are specifically looking for offensive linemen who have the versatility to play multiple positions. You won't see strictly an offensive tackle in this group.

Every position group is different. I'm trying to guess who may be selected before the Packers have their selection tonight, and also who best fits the needs of the team.

So, without further delay, let's look at the big board of the Packers and also the top five rankings for the positional units.
