LSU Football 2013 Spring Game: Live Analysis, Notes and Recap
White Team 37, Purple Team 0 — Final
LSU made some excellent evaluations today. Some of the best ones were how Odell Beckham Jr. and Stephen Rivers were excellent today. Another shocking one is how well Jeremy Hill was this season. It will be interesting to see how the defense melds together after this game.
Craig Loston is a true beast, and he will turn in one of the best seasons on that defense this year. Taking a look at the offense, the Zach Mettenberger show will hold them back long term. But that's a mistake for Les Miles to make.

Anthony Jennings is trying to get the zero off the board for the Purple team here today. Jennings led them within the White's 25, but then got sacked at the 26. Jennings got taken down on the fourth down play on the 30 to end the spring game.
White Team 37, Purple Team 0 — End of the Game
Stephen Rivers hit Odell Beckham Jr. for his second receiving touchdown. This time it was 21 yards and Beckham is definitely the No. 1 guy in the fall. Odell Beckham has 6 catches for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day.
White Team 37, Purple Team 0 — 4:00 4th Quarter
Stephen Rivers has looked excellent today, and Terrance Magee has looked to earn the change of pace running back role. Despite it being garbage time, it's not a shock to think that Zach Mettenberger could be in jeopardy of losing his starting job. He will have to show that he's not a mediocre quarterback and stop mistiming his passes.
Stephen Rivers hit Jarvis Landry for a huge 46-yard gain after a sack. He's making a case to be a starting quarterback right now. Rivers hit Jeremy Hill again when he was scrambling around for a 26 yard gain. And that will be his final play of the game.

Brad Kragthorpe was the victim of the first interception of the day to Craig Loston. Stephen Rivers almost hit Kadron Boone deep. It will be awesome to see if he can compete with Zach Mettenberger and Anthony Jennings for the starting quarterback spot.

White Team 23, Purple Team 0 — Halftime
Looks like Rivers went to the Mettenberger school of to-the-ground throws. But it worked, good hands by Dural to get the TD. #LSU— Patrick Clay (@patrickclay10) April 20, 2013
Rivers completes pass to Dural for 45-yard TD pass. Walk-on Tre Sullivan was defender. White leads 23-0 after Delahoussaye XP.#LSU— Bryan Lazare (@bldore) April 20, 2013
Purple team starts with the ball. Logan Davis and Charles Mitchell start things off, but only gain five yards. On 3rd-and-5 from the 30, the quarterback got sacked.

Jennings hits Travis Dickson to bring it to the White 32-yard line. Jennings then mistimed a trio of passes and set up a fourth down. On the 49-yard field goal, the kicker had the distance, but he missed it wide left.
White Team 16, Purple Team 0 — Halftime

On 3rd-and-10 from the 30, Jennings had a 5-yard run but it set up yet another fourth down. Colby Delahoussaye hit a 42-yard punt to give the White team the ball with 3:10 left in the half.
Ego had Jennings in the grasp that time. No whistle. Jennings chucked the ball OB. Impressive effort both ways. #LSU— Scott Rabalais (@RabalaisAdv) April 20, 2013
On another pass from Zach Mettenberger from their own 21, he hits Odell Beckham for a 79-yard touchdown to extend the lead.

It's the Spring Game and he's playing for the 2nd string team, but Magee doing work at TB. Maybe he's finally found a role. #LSU— Scott Rabalais (@RabalaisAdv) April 20, 2013
Mettenberger completes play-action pass to TE Dillon Gordon for 15-yard TD. That's the Cam Cameron influence. #LSU— Dandy Don LSU Sports (@dandydonlsu) April 20, 2013
Gordon touchdown hopefully a sign of things to come. Last year, #LSU hardly had any TE seam routes for big gains. Critical part of Cam Off— Carter Bryant (@CarterthePower) April 20, 2013
The White team took back over, and Zach Mettenberger ran for a couple of yards. On 2nd-and-4, Mettenberger hit Odell Beckham for a 16-yard gain. After Mettenberger got sacked on first down, he hit Beckham for a for a 50-yard gain to the Purple 9-yard line.
On 1st-and-goal from the Purple 9, a false start took off five yards. Then on 1st-and-goal from the 19, Mettenberger hit Jarvis Landry for a touchdown. But it came back due to an ineligible receiver down-field.
Jeremy Hill brought it back down to the 14 and was quickly followed by a Mettenberger to Dillon Gordon touchdown. That was followed by a missed extra point.
White Team 9, Purple Team 0 — Late 2nd Quarter
Mett has been inconsistent throwing the ball, but his play fakes have been fantastic. #LSU will burn teams deep with that— Matt Moscona (@MattMoscona) April 20, 2013
After the short first and second down plays, Anthony Jennings missed John Diarse on a short pass to set up a 3rd-and-7 from the 25-yard line. And the field goal went wide right with 9:49 remaining in the quarter.
BEAUTIFUL 40 yard bomb dropped perfectly into Kadron Boone's hands by Anthony Jennings. Great pass and catch. #LSU— Pat White (@PatWhiteSports) April 20, 2013

Anthony Jennings completes deep pass to Kadron Boone. True freshman stepping up, looking better than first-team QB. #LSU— Gary Laney (@GLaneyESPN) April 20, 2013
After the 47 yard punt set up the White team at their own 35-yard line, Jeremy Hill gained just one yard. The first quarter ends with the White having their 3rd-and-3 from the 42 coming up.
White Team 3, Purple Team 0 — End 1st Quarter
#LSU Spring Game!
The Purple team fumbled on first snap after the punt. Then Kenny Hilliard brought it out past the 17 for third down. On 3rd-and-2, Purple gained just one yard and was forced to punt again.
The White team has been solid run blocking. Landry solid in patterns. Only were not seeing a crisp/efficient Mettenberger for #LSU.— Matthew Harris (@MHarrisAdvocate) April 20, 2013
