The stakes could not be higher for the Los Angeles Lakers heading into their final game of the year against the Houston Rockets, as they seek to keep their postseason dream alive.

Even without Kobe Bryant in their midst anymore.

The Rockets have already locked up a playoff berth in the Western Conference—leaving just one spot for the Utah Jazz and the Lakers to battle for.

If the Lakers beat the Rockets, they'll finish in seventh and lock up a first-round showdown with the San Antonio Spurs. If not, however, then they'll be dependent on the Memphis Grizzlies beating the Jazz; otherwise, they'll soon be joining Bryant at home to watch the playoffs on TV.

How did the Lakers go in their bid to chalk up another postseason appearance?

Let's take a look at the action from the Staples Center on Wednesday night.
