For nearly 12 hours Tuesday, Coors Field was a frantic scene. Throughout the day, dozens flocked to the field to furiously shovel the approximately eight inches of snow Winter Storm Yogi dumped Monday afternoon into the night. Rockies owner Dick Monfort joined. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson grabbed a shovel. Even Rockies mascot Dinger, in full dinosaur costume, participated in the massive effort to prepare the diamond for the day’s scheduled doubleheader. Anything to avoid a third straight day of postponements for the Mets and a one-day visit to Colorado later in the season.
