This year’s Boston Marathon will be the 117th edition of the annual race, and the 26.2-mile run is not only one of the biggest parts of Patriots' Day, this is one of the most prestigious races in the sport of marathon running.

The best racers in the world will come out for this event, and on a day celebrating the fight for our nation's freedom, the melting pot of competing nations is the perfect representation of what the United States of America stands for.

Even if you don’t like marathon racing, the feats of athleticism shown during the events and the storylines behind every racer makes investing some time into the Boston Marathon a no-brainer.

Predicted Winner: Wesley Korir

Boston Red Sox

Where: Fenway Park, Boston, Mass.

When: Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11:05 a.m. ET

Watch: NESN

The Boston Red Sox are celebrating Patriots' Day with their annual game at Fenway Park—a tradition started in 1959—and the team will be taking on American League East foe the Tampa Bay Rays.

Boston hasn’t been playing as well as many expected thus far in 2013—ranked 15th in runs and 13th in batting average—but the lackluster play from the rest of the AL East still has the Red Sox in first place in the division.

Expect the early start to the game (11:05 a.m. ET) and the home crowd to help Boston pull out a big divisional win over the Rays and continue their progress as a serious contender for a World Series.

Predicted Winner: Red Sox 7, Rays 3

Boston Bruins

Where: TD Garden, Boston, Mass.

When: Monday, April 15, 2013 at 7 p.m.

Watch: NESN

The day of sports action in Boston wraps up with the Bruins continuing their hunt for a Stanley Cup against the surprisingly good Ottawa Senators Monday night at the TD Garden.

The Bruins need to start playing better offensively, as the team is just 3-3 over the last six games and is losing ground on the top contenders in the Eastern Conference and yielding ground to the teams making a charge up the standings.

Led by veteran star Jaromir Jagr (picked up at the trade deadline from the Dallas Stars), look for the Bruins to send the fans home happy after a big win over a tough Northeast Division foe like the Senators.

Predicted Winner: Bruins 3, Senators 1
