My Take on the Detroit Lions' New Logo

The Lions have finally unveiled their new, more fierce, lion logo to the public in a recent press conference. Lions players Calvin Johnson, Kevin Smith, Dominic Raiola, Ernie Sims, and Jason Hanson modeled the new logo, helmet, and threads.

The change in logo is viewed as a new beginning for a beleaguered franchise coming off of the worst season in NFL history.

Who knows if the changes will signal a new dawn for the Lions, but you have to give them credit for trying to put last season behind them as soon as possible. This same strategy worked for the Tampa Bay Bucs about 10 years ago, albeit their changes were more dramatic.

The Lions' new logo has some subtle differences from the old "bubbles" logo but is much more menacing. They also changed how the word "Lions" looks on the jersey and team merchandise.
