"No Messi, no problem" was Barcelona's retort to any questions of where their goals would come from in the absence of their Argentinian record breaker.

Cesc Fabregas' hat trick and a brace from Alexis Sanchez clinically killed off any Mallorca challenge on a night which saw the visitors drop to the bottom of La Liga.

It took 20 minutes for the deadlock to broken at Camp Nou, Fabregas finishing following a one-two with Alexis.

It was barely two minutes before it was 2-0 though, Cesc returning the favor for the Chilean.

By half time it was four. The same two combining on both occasions again as they left the pitch after 45 minutes with two goals each.

Cesc wasted no time completing his hat trick, collecting a clever through ball from Andres Iniesta to make it 5-0 just after the break.

That proved that for the scoring, but there was still time for Eric Abidal to make an emotional return to first team football to the backdrop of a standing ovation from the home fans.
