Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in recent sports history against Duke in the Elite Eight. But as bad as it was, the horrific knee injury has thrust him into the spotlight.
Most recently, Ware appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman.
His personality and matter-of-fact nature are refreshing and show why he’s such an easy guy to support. In the video, he allows himself to be the butt of Letterman’s comedic "Top 10" segment.
The entire bit is pretty entertaining, but I’ll highlight the segment where he discusses being uncomfortable with “everybody having to change [him] and wash [him].”
Ware’s eyes kind of bulge out of his head Chris Tucker-style as he mentions those less-than-independent moments, and the usually witty Letterman plays off the comment in hilarious fashion.
The Cardinals will miss Ware’s on-court contributions the rest of the way. Though he didn't start, he was a valuable player in the team’s rotation.
Fortunately, he’s just a sophomore, so he still has two years of eligibility left at Louisville. According to the video, he expects to be able to play next season.
I know I’m not alone in wishing him the best moving forward.
Follow me, I write cool stuff.
