Official Result: Waterson defeats Penne via submission (armbar) at 2:31 of the fourth round.
What an excellent, excellent fight between two world-class fighters. Waterson went in to the fire and came out with the newly forged gold.
Waterson out-grappled Penne early, and then Penne got the better late. In the fourth, it looked like Penne would once again win that exchange, and then out of nowhere Waterson slaps on an armbar to win!
Penne lands a long jab, and Waterson smirks. Penne forces Waterson against the fence. Penne tries a trip, but Waterson stays upright. Penne tries to take Waterson down, but it doesn't work. Waterson with a right, and Penne goes for the takedown. Penne completes it, but Waterson is threatening to take her back. WATERSON WITH AN ARMBAR OUT OF NOWHERE! WE HAVE A NEW CHAMPION!
Penne gets the takedown this time, and she is in side control. This is a great fight thus far. Penne starts to mount. Penne landing hard shots on the mat. Waterson wiggles her leg out to regain half-guard. Penne and Waterson's ground war is fantastic. Penne tries to trap Waterson's arm. Waterson uses the cage to threaten with an armbar, and that forces Penne to defend. Waterson improved her position, but Penne ends up getting her back and reigns down elbows. Penne looks for an armbar. Wow! What dexterity by Waterson! She is now on top! Penne sweeps! This is nuts.

Low leg kick landed by Waterson, but that gives Penne the chance to close the distance. Penne tries to trip Waterson, but Waterson ends up on top. Penne attacking a leg, but Waterson easily defends. Waterson mounts! Penne nearly sweeps by using the cage, but Waterson keeps mount. Penne back to half-guard. Waterson moves to side control. Waterson gets back to mount. Waterson lands a couple solid hammerfists. Waterson is making Penne work hard. Penne gets back to her feet. Waterson lands a good right hand. Waterson takes Penne down.

Waterson opens up with a leg kick, and she is on her bike and Penne tries to close the distance. Penne closes the distance and has her against the fence. Waterson is doing a fine job of stopping the takedown. Penne pulls guard. Good ground work going on. Waterson tries for a triangle, but it's easily defended. Penne is controlling on the ground and maintaining position, but Waterson is doing a good job of avoiding damage. Penne closes out the round trying to throw ground and pound. Close round depending on how you value submission attempts from the bottom.

Official Decision: Honchak defeats Porto by unanimous decision (50-45, 49-46, 48-47)
Porto thought she won for sure, but I don't see how. Honchak won a technical performance.
Unless something dramatic happens it looks like we will ride another one of these rounds to a decision. Porto throws, and Honchak counters. Leg kick by Honchak connects. Honchak connects at the end of one of her straight rights. Leg kick is caught by Porto, and she takes Honchak down. She immediately lets her up. Strange strategy by Porto. She has to believe she is clearly ahead on the scorecards. Leg kick lands for Honchak. Overhand right from Honchak finds the mark. 30 seconds to go. Porto lands a leg kick. Honchak goes for a takedown, but it's stuffed. Close round.

And we are back to the same old song and dance. Who will be the first to take a significant chance in this fight? It may be all they need to steal the fight. Leg kick from Honchak, and Porto counters. Honchak throws a high kick and slips. Porto almost capitalizes, but allows Honchak back up. Combination thrown by Honchak, but Porto covered up. Honchak with another combination. They are not the most effective, but a few shots sneak through the guard of Porto. It's really unclear what kind of gameplan Porto had coming in.

A minute has gone by with more of the same action from the previous rounds. Honchak with a good striaght that finds the mark. Porto has to stop waiting. 90 seconds in the round remains. Honchak has clearly been the more active fighter. Porto is throwing single shots or waiting. Good counter left from Honchak.

They once again stand at a distance, but are not truly engaging. Neither one wants to make a mistake in this big fight. Leg kicks are the most effective strikes by either woman. Honchak comes forward with a combination. Porto lands a leg kick, and Honchak counters with a straight right. Honchak with a low leg kick. Honchak has been effective with her short bursts. She throws another solid combination off a leg kick by Porto. Honchak is getting more comfortable.

Porto with a good leg kick to open the bout. Honchak lands a good right. Honchak looks light on her feet, but Porto seems right to throw with power. Porto has control of the center of the cage, but is not forcing the issue. Nice leg kick from Porto. Not a lot of action in the opening frame, but ladies are doing a good job with their defense. Honchak with a bodylock. The round ends against the cage.

Cyborg says in her post-fight interview that the Invicta FC Featherweight Championship fight against Marloes Coenen will take place in July.
A straight right rocks Muxlow! Uppercut! Cyborg in top position now. Cyborg is brutalizing Muxlow on the ground, and now Muxlow is back up taking shots. Muxlow goes for a leg, but Cyborg defends easily. Muxlow is busted up. This is ugly. Muxlow keeps going for a takedown, but she is nowhere close to getting it. Cyborg is stalking her now. Cyborg has Muxlow's back, and now she's back up. Muxlow is tough. Big knees from Cyborg. McCarthy finally pulls her off Muxlow.

Official Result: Kaufman defeats Smith by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Leslie Smith should have earned herself a call from the UFC for her performance against Kaufman. She deserves it. Perhaps she could join the cast of The Ultimate Fighter?
Smith throws another headkick, but Kaufman blocks it. Kaufman goes for a takedown, but they just end up against the fence. Kaufman backs away. Kaufman with a good shot to the body. Smith throws a lot, but her strikes are just not accurate. Smith lands a left there. Kaufman gets inside Smith's reach and starts to throw. Kaufman with a nicely timed double. Back up they go. Half the round is in the books. Good combinations from Kaufman. Kaufman tags Smith with a straight right. Headkick from Smith lands. Kaufman with another takedown attempt, but Smith defends. Under a minute to go. Kaufman landing more accurately has been the tale of this fight. They throw until the final horn.

Kaufman with a good jab. Smith throws but misses, and Kaufman counters with a knee up the middle. Kaufman makes it dirty against the fence, and Smith lands some good knees. Smith winging away. Smith drops Kaufman with a headkick! Wow! Good ground and pound from Smith. Kaufman has done a good job recovering, but Smith is keeping the pace up. Back to her feet is Kaufman. Kaufman again lands numerous rights in the pocket. Good left and right from Kaufman. Kaufman is getting back to being accurate, but Smith is throwing in bunches. Kaufman walks Smith to the fence. Good jab from Kaufman to end the round.

Both ladies take to the center of the cage. Kaufman lands a combination. The strikes are being thrown, but nothing is landing of significance just yet. Kaufman lands again. Kaufman pushes Smith against the fence. Kaufman lands an elbow on the break. Good combination by Kaufman, and Smith counters. Smith throws a headkick that is blocked by Kaufman. Kaufman is the more accurate striker in the first five.
