Its been a long 42 years for the Toronto maple leafs and more recently since before the lockout season they haven't been in the playoffs setting a new leafs franchise record for longest playoff drought. But is that all about to change? Brian Burke wasn't to happy the day the Leafs were officially eliminated from the playoff run and with that he promised that this time next year the leafs will be in the playoffs no matter what. He said he will move guys and no body is safe but the safest is definitely Luke Schenn, in interviews he has also mentioned that buyout kicks in on July 1st so look for some players bought out then. This promise about the playoffs is gonna take some skill but Burke has plans with the recent signings of two out of 3 top college free agents and the pursue of Swedish Goalie Jonas Gustuvsson who in 13 playoff games posted 5 shutouts and a .961 save percentage will provide excellent goaltending and push Vesa Toskala to be his best. The Leafs also hold the #7 pick in this years draft and have a huge free agent pool this summer. With the good Defence they are showing the perfect goaltending and their rookies that have stepped up plus some free agent offence signed they will have a huge chance at making the playoffs.
