Bryan Hoch of MLB.com is reporting that New York Yankees' catcher Jorge Posada was scratched from Wednesday night's lineup due to stiffness in his right shoulder.
Manager Joe Girardi was quoted as saying that Posada's status is "day-to-day."
Jose Molina got the start for the Yanks against the Toronto Blue Jays, catching for starter Mike Mussina.
Hopefully, the Yankees are being extra-cautious with the 36-year-old Posada, as the organization is thin on catching beyond Posada and Molina.
The only other catcher on the 40-man roster is Francisco Cervelli, who is out after having to have his broken wrist surgically repaired.
Veteran Chad Moeller could be summonsed from AAA Scranton-Wilkes Barre if Posada needs to go to the Disabled List or if Girardi would like to have an insurance policy for the next handful of games.
