Behavior unbecoming an NFL Player—or any adult for that matter.

We don't ask much of our heroes and warriors. We want them to be lively, active, and red-blooded—just like the soldiers we sent off to fight for this planet's freedoms.

We also want them to be respectable and decent citizens.

Abu Ghraib was a disgrace, and we feel that all involved learned a valuable lesson. The military brought charges on the offenders and sent them all to prison.

In the NFL, Michael Vick and Pacman Jones have recently learned how poor off-field choices can take away your livelihood and even your freedom.

These things used to be chalked up to "boys being boys," which brings us to the latest moronic off-field choice: former Heisman Trophy winner and current Arizona Cardinal QB Matt Leinart at a party assisting underage girls in getting drunk.

What is going through his head? Hasn't he ever heard of Mark Chmura?

Need I say more...?

I guess he doesn't value his career very much. Or his freedom.

For the photos of Leinart go to TMZ.com.

  1. I always thought Leinhart was an @$$. So much so that I became a Texas Longhorns fan just to see Leinhart and the Trojans go down in the Rose Bowl.

And then there was the draft...lol

  2. You know incidents such as this, once thought to be isolated, are now surfacing everywhere. Going from hero to zero has never occurred more rapidly than in the world of professional sports these days. What's going through the minds of professional athletes, and celebrities in general?

    1. This has always gone on.

But now everyone has a camera on their person. It used to be an unwritten rule - no cameras...but every cellphone has a camera and camcorders are made small enough to carry around. No party is complete without pictures

Which is why one has to be careful these days in public..

How many years was LAPD beating on suspects before the Rodney King case? Who knows....maybe 100 years, maybe never...
But all it took was someone with a camera to bring the situation to light.

    2. True. Hence the phrase: A picture’s worth a thousand words.

I guess my previous statement should have been more to the point of: Incidents such as this were once just rumors, with athletes covering them. Now the whole world has proof of what really goes on in the lives of everyone’s “superstars.”

  3. Who the hell said any of thes women were underage....no one of any authority I have seen...
Like Mike and Mike said...until it is shown that the girls were underage...he was having a party at his house...get over it...you weren't invited so you are pissed. Losers....

    1. How old are 'coeds'? ...anywhere between 17-22.....so you're telling me that they all are over 21.

      Doubtful

It doesn't matter anyway...let him have his fun, you're right

      Who am I to criticize...

someday, he'll get himself jammed up and you'll remember this article

  4. The author Fennelly "dabbles" in journalism...go dabble somewhere else. Dabble this....

    1. identify yourself coward

  5. Comparing this with PacMan? Did I miss pictures where Leinart was making it rain?

Comparing this with Vick? I didn't look at all of the pictures, but I didn't see any pit bulls fighting.

I'm not a big fan of Leinart by any stretch--I think he's arrogant without having earned the right to be--but this is getting blown way, way out of proportion.

    1. yes....but there pictures, period...that's the prob

  6. I'd have to agree with Rich in this regard. From the outset I haven't liked Matt Leinart. I dont like the way he carries himself nor do I like his cavalier attitude. Still, I think the pictures of him holding a beer-bong have been taken way out of context. He's a young guy, drinking and enjoying himself during the off-season. You'd like to think a professional athlete would show a little more discretion but at the same time he isn't breaking the law.

    Unbecoming and juvenile? Yes.

But I don't know if it as bad as it's been made to seem. Good article though, good topic to bring up.

  7. I agree with you for the most part but don't think he draws comparisons to Vick and Pac Man - yet.

I wrote a little piece on it - I welcome your input, 86 articles deep Fennelly.
