James Irvin and Houston Alexander met in the octagon at UFC fight night.

Irvin stepped into the cage with a height and reach advantage. Irvin has a background in vale-tudo with a 13-4-1 professional record. Alexander has background in muay thai and wrestling with an 8-2 professional record.

One super man punch to the head stopped the fight. Irvin the victor within eight seconds.

Some may argue the fight was stopped too soon.  Since Rogan's commentary supported the decision the MMA community will most likely support the decision.

Alexander trains hard and works hard.  He has proved his ability. When refs discretion is involved bad decisions do happen.

Alexander has been given two tough brakes.  If given the chance he has the ability to prevail.

Irvin demonstrated poor taste in his post fight interview with Rogan.  Alexander is not a bad guy and does not have bad things to say about people. Irvin being a soar winner was unnecessary.

For now Alexander will have to hit the gym and Irvin can hit the parking lot.

  1. You have to hand it to ole Steve Mazzagati for stepping in when he did. Sure, Alexander was able to recover... 20 seconds after James Irvin stopped hitting him. Who knows what kind of damage could have been done if Steve wasn't on his toes.

  2. I don't think it was the superman punch that did him in. He was hurt but wasn't out, until he got hit by Irvin's third punch. When Houston got hit his arm's were at his sides with his elbows almost on the mat, hands pointing to the ceiling. That is NOT intelligently defending ones self, so the fight was stopped. I actually think the Ref made a good decision.

  3. Legitimate stoppage and a pretty embarrassing performance by houston alexander

  4. James Irvin made the statement about the parking lot b/c Alexander claimed he's been hit harder by his kids. Wonder if his kids throw superman punches? Houston Alexander has zero class! If anyone is wondering why i say this? Go to youtube and search Chuck Parmalee vs Houston Alexander. Thanks!

    1. Actually Irvin said the whole parking lot thing first. Alexander was simply retaliating but ok

  5. B/c Alexander didn't jump up saying he was ok, like he didn't just get knocked out in record time. Your 3 seconds of fame is over Houston. Go home!

    1. man cut the guy some slack. He is a really nice guy (yes I know first hand) and he is rather inspiring considering the stuff he deals with on a daily basis. Look into who he is and maybe yo will feel a little differently. A lot of these guys have amazing stories and they still succeed at what they do despite a bunch of stuff. And they still don't say stuff to each other like "lets take it up in the parking lot." Just my opinion though.

  6. Does it even matter? Neither one will ever move up the rankings. They are guys the UFC brings in to give the fans some excitement. The UFC doesn't expect either one to be a contender because they are both very one dimensional.

They can put on exciting fights but thats it. If they fought ten times, they would each win five a piece in my opinion. As far as the "parking lot" and "my kids hit harder" comment, they are fighters, if they cant take a little smack talk without being offended, they are in the wrong sport. I'm sure neither guy went home and cried because of what was said about one another. I would even argue they may have spoken afterwards in the back.
