Roman Abramovich to Manage Chelsea? It All Makes Sense on April Fool's Day

There weren't too many football April Fool's Day jokes floating around today, but talkSPORT made the effort with their attempt to con supporters into believing Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was going to name himself as manager.

With Rafael Benitez leaving his interim role at the end of the season, there is a vacancy about to become available at Stamford Bridge.

The radio station claimed Abramovich had become fed up with hiring and firing so many managers since taking over the club in 2003 that he needed just one coaching badge before he could take up the manager's role.

Former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli was drafted in to add some credence to the prank, but talkSPORT probably missed an opportunity here as many fans joke that Abramovich is already selecting the team.

However, logic is never anywhere near the surface at a club like Chelsea so the joke could have worked in the eyes of some.

But Andriy Shevchenko returning as assistant manager to Abramovich? Now we know that is stretching the truth, even for an April Fool.

Chelsea and Abramovich went on to have the last laugh on Apr. 1 as they defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup quarterfinal at Stamford Bridge through Demba Ba's stunning strike.
