Maxwell, Ankiel Power Astros to 8-2 Win in American League Debut

On a historic night of firsts, Rick Ankiel and Justin Maxwell introduced the Astros to the American League with the biggest shots Sunday at Minute Maid Park. For one night at least, the Astros showed they’re ready to compete in the Junior Circuit after 51 years in the National League. Maxwell hit a two-run triple to take an early lead, and Ankiel added a pinch-run, three-run home run to pull away late for an 8-2 victory over the Texas Rangers before a sellout crowd of 41,307.
