2-1 was the final score. Gareth Bale and Jan Vertonghen set each other up for Spurs' two goals. Michu got his head to a corner kick in the second half but the Swans couldn't find a quality finish that would have shared the points with Spurs.
Tottenham take all three points to keep them in the fourth and final Champions League spot. Spurs gave up a lot of possession (60%) but had the legs to crack the Swans defense with plays right down main street.
Swansea City had their chances to get a result but missed some point-blank chances. Only Michu looked interested up front for the Swans, perhaps the end-of-season mid-table malaise is starting to settle in.
Bale in the corner just shook off two tacklers rugby style and put in a dangerous cross. When most players would have been looking for the ground Bale muscled up.
Five minutes of extra time is excessive, more work for Spurs to do.
Michu tried to take a dive but the referee wasn't buying it and punished the Spaniard when he was actually fouled a few passes later.
A case of the footballer who cried "foul"!
79' Swans' German forward Shechter on for the midfielder Hernández.
Michu very lively in the last ten minutes, showing how he worked his way into the top-5 EPL goal scorers.
75' and its clear the Spurs will try to bunker down and create chances with the counterattack.
Holtby on for Sigurdsson.
Bale nearly finishes an 80-yard run with the ball just glancing off the post!!
How many players in the EPL can make a box-to-box play like that?
2-1 Swans who demonstrate again why the two goal lead is the most dangerous in football.
70' and Michu scores on a corner! Spurs pay for their passive defensive attitude.
66', Monk for Flores as Swansea looks for more offensive punch than the tiring center back can give in his first game back after two months.
Spurs now willing to sit back in their own half so Swansea is enjoying a lot of the ball but can't seem to do much with it.
What do you think of Spurs blue away kit? I confess I liked the black/silver color-block jerseys they've worn all year, but these unis are smart too.
61', Defoe on for Adebayor who had one of his typical low-energy games.
Spurs are deploying a familiar AVB tactic where the wingers come to the opposite side and outnumber the defense. Some managers will switch the wingers in the second half, AVBs twist is simply to put both wingers to one side on the attack.
Michu cuts in front of Dawson for the header but misses wide, his second miss of the half. Swans need their marksman to stress the net off chances like these.
Aaron Lennon was invisible in the first half but he is cutting inside more after half time. His pass to Sigurdsson almost finds the back corner of the net.
Great save by Vorm!
Swansea indeed come out strong and earn a free kick at the edge of the box. A quick kick almost takes Tottenham by surprise! The veteran keeper proves his worth by being the only alert Spurs defender.
Swansea City has 57% of first-half possession. As the teams take the field the Swans know they can get right back into this. Spurs need to be ready for an early onslaught and perhaps finish the game with a counterattack.
Tottenham will need to guard against a letdown in the second half. The Swans will no doubt come out of the tunnel juiced up by the home crowd and an anticipated verbal thrashing by manager Michael Laudrup.
Vertonghen has been MOTM so far for Spurs. He contributed to both goals, assisting on one and finishing another, and he thus far has controlled the air space in front of his goal.
Swansea attacking down the center 75% of the time, Spurs are 83%, both sides closing down the wings though Swansea has seen a few dangerous crosses from the flanks including what should have been an opening goal by Dyer.
Spurs show great patience, using possession to take the sting out of the crowd. Even on the break they pulled the ball back out rather than force a pass inside.
The Welsh fans don't like Brad Friedel's "time wasting", but the veteran keeper knows his team is overwhelmed at the moment and he intelligently slows the pace of the game down.
Swans have been on the front foot for the last ten minutes but just can't find the finishing touch. Spurs are playing like three points are already written in the table.
