Orioles Pregame Notes: Jason Hammel Named Opening Day Starter

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Orioles right-hander Jason Hammel has been named the team's Opening Day starter, manager Buck Showalter announced before Wednesday night's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees. Hammel quickly emerged as the Orioles' de facto ace last season -- winning eight of his first 10 starts -- before arthroscopic surgery to his right knee slowed his season. But now healthy again, he's received his first Opening Day assignment.
