CALGARY — Greetings from balmy Alberta, where the sun is shining and the cab driver says it’s “hot.” Not sure about that, but it’s definitely nice. Our online story from this morning’s skate looks at the beginning of what has to be the Avalanche’s toughest regular-season stretch in team history (five games in seven nights in five cities and two countries), and the addition of 21-year-old Tyson Barrie. Barrie, despite being scratched and sent down to the minors for the last nine games, leads the Avs in ice time (21:06) and will play tonight. Coach Joe Sacco said he might go with seven D, but regardless Barrie is in.
