WWE WrestleMania 29: Predictions for All Scheduled Matches

0 of 9

WrestleMania 29 is less than two weeks away, and so far, aside from the pre-show, there have been eight confirmed matches that will be taking place inside MetLife Stadium. While many WWE fans are disappointed with the uninspired booking and numerous rematches taking place at this year's event, I can't help but think that the WWE has a few tricks up its sleeve and that the WWE Universe will get multiple unexpected surprises by the end of the big event.

The fact that the WWE hasn't booked a Divas or United States Title match at WrestleMania 29 is a clear indication that they are still determining the card. Chances are, the entire card will be filled from top to bottom by the end of next week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

A bit premature, but here are my predictions for the scheduled matches taking place at WrestleMania 29.

These matches are confirmed as of 3/26/2013.

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango

1 of 9

Chris Jericho vs. Fandango is going to be a very interesting match at WrestleMania 29.

After months of eager anticipation, the WWE Universe finally caught a glimpse of what Fandango can do in the ring after he attacked Jericho last Friday night on SmackDown and last Monday night on Raw. Sure, Fandango didn’t actually have a match, but I’ll be the first to admit that he was thoroughly impressive in the short amount of time he was given during both shows.

The reason why Fandango deserves a bit of praise is because he (Johnny Curtis) played his character to perfection. He walks and talks with style and grace, but Fandango needed to prove that he can be as elegant in the ring as he is out of it, and his attack on Jericho was the perfect debut when it comes to making an instant impact.

Chris Jericho is one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, and it’s no secret that he loves to put younger talent over. However, I don’t expect a Fandango victory at WrestleMania 29.

Fandango’s very first match is taking place at WrestleMania. Think about that. His nerves are going to be going through the roof. But, credit WWE for pairing Fandango with a seasoned veteran like Jericho.

Chris Jericho will be victorious at WrestleMania 29 and will continue to feud with Fandango. Despite losing, Fandango will put forth a great performance and will solidify himself as a force to be reckoned with in the WWE.

    Winner: Chris Jericho

Ryback vs. Mark Henry

2 of 9

Although it’s been a rather slow build, the WWE has done a good job getting of fans interested and excited for this match. The powerful Ryback and the World's Strongest Man Mark Henry are scheduled to square off against one another for the very first time at WrestleMania 29.

Ryback vs. Mark Henry is a WrestleMania worthy matchup because the two behemoths are similar when it comes to strength, and it’s a match we have never seen on TV before. Also, this is going to be Ryback’s very first WrestleMania match.

Since coming back to the WWE in early February, Mark Henry has had no trouble inducting WWE Superstars into the Hall of Pain. On last week’s edition of SmackDown, he took advantage of The Shield’s attack on Ryback and delivered his finishing move, the World’s Strongest Slam, three times to his WrestleMania 29 opponent.

It’s safe to say that Mark Henry has the early advantage heading into WrestleMania.

WrestleMania can either make you or break you, and Ryback needs to be ready for the biggest match of his career.

Ryback is a beast and picks up wins left and right on Raw and SmackDown, but he’s currently on an embarrassing losing streak when it comes to big matches and PPV matches. He lost at last year’s Hell in a Cell, Survivor Series and TLC PPVs and also lost his WWE Title match against CM Punk on the first Raw of 2013.

Plain and simple, if the WWE wants to turn Ryback into a top star, he needs to regain his momentum and score a pinfall victory over Mark Henry at WrestleMania 29.

    Winner: Ryback

Randy Orton, Sheamus and Big Show vs. the Shield

3 of 9

Like Fandango and Ryback, The Shield is making their WrestleMania debut at this year’s event. The Shield has been one of the hottest stables (only stable) in the WWE, and as of March 27, they are undefeated.

Since debuting at last year’s Survivor Series, The Shield has been victorious in many different six-man tag matches. They have victories over Sheamus, John Cena, Ryback, Chris Jericho and Team Hell No. For a rookie faction, those are some impressive results.

Sheamus, Randy Orton and The Big Show have been having trust issues and need to be mentally focused for their match with The Shield at WrestleMania. It seems as if Sheamus and Orton are seeing eye to eye, but neither of them can trust Big Show. However, despite the lack of trust, all three Superstars have put their differences aside when they have been confronted by The Shield.

I love how the WWE has made The Big Show the odd man out because this sets up a Randy Orton heel turn at WrestleMania perfectly.

As a face, Randy Orton doesn’t seem to be his usual self. He’s been stale, boring and worst of all, predictable. However, a heel turn for Orton could rejuvenate the Apex Predator and have him in the World Heavyweight Title picture in no time.

Expect Randy Orton to RKO Sheamus and cost his team the victory at WrestleMania 29. While The Shield is celebrating their shocking victory, Orton will RKO each member of the trio.

The WWE Universe will be pleased with The Shield’s victory and smile while Randy Orton makes his expected heel turn.

    Winner: The Shield

Tag Team Championships: (c) Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston

4 of 9

Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston feels like a match that was created out of desperation at the very last minute. Team Hell No should be defending the WWE Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 29, but it should be against a real tag team instead of Ziggler and his bodyguard.

Despite the poor buildup, this match has the potential to be exciting and special. It’s exciting because it will feature three phenomenal wrestlers in Kane, Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler. It’s special because another young WWE Superstar is making their in-ring debut at the event.

Of course, I’m talking about the impressive Big E Langston.

Even though he gives unusual promos and sounds like a weatherman, his outstanding physique and recent examples of strength indicate that Big E has a chance to shine at WrestleMania 29.

I can’t imagine Team Hell No dropping the WWE Tag Team Titles to Ziggler and Langston, because their WrestleMania match feels rushed and it doesn’t have a big fight feel to it. The buildup has been terrible and a victory for Ziggler and Langston would be random.

    Winner: Team Hell No

World Heavyweight Championship: (c) Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger

5 of 9

Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger has taken a backseat (or trunk) to the three main event matches that the WWE has been consistently promoting for the past few weeks.

After an entertaining and wild start, it seems like the Alberto Del Rio and Jack Swagger feud has died down significantly. However, one more impactful and personal encounter between the two Superstars before WrestleMania 29 can makes things interesting once again.

This is a difficult match to predict because there have been a lot of backstage problems for Swagger since his return.

Soon after winning his match at the Elimination Chamber PPV and earning the right to face Del Rio at WrestleMania, Swagger was arrested for drug possession and DUI. Many fans (including myself) thought that the WWE was going to punish Swagger before the big event, but the WWE hasn’t taken any serious action yet.

However, I believe that the WWE will punish Jack Swagger at WrestleMania 29.

After a superb back-and-forth match, Swagger will defeat the Mexican aristocrat. Seconds after the victory, Big E Langston will create chaos in the ring and destroy Swagger with his finishing move, the Big Ending. This will allow Dolph Ziggler, who was very close to Swagger while both of them were under the management of Vickie Guerrero, to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and leave WrestleMania 29 as the World Heavyweight Champion.

Winner: Jack Swagger (Dolph Ziggler then successfully cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase)

No Holds Barred Match: Triple H (career on the line) vs. Brock Lesnar

6 of 9

Although this is a rematch from SummerSlam 2012, Triple H and Brock Lesnar will give the WWE Universe an unforgettable performance at WrestleMania 29. These two guys are experienced and can dish out a beating. Also, expect to see some blood.

This match is much different from their first encounter at SummerSlam, and putting Triple H and Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred Match and adding the stipulation that Triple H’s career is on the line definitely spices things up.

We can make the assumption that Paul Heyman is going to accompany Lesnar to the ring at WrestleMania, but who will be in Triple H’s corner? Vince McMahon? Stephanie McMahon?

Judging by the match he had at last year’s event with The Undertaker, Triple H can still perform in the ring at a very high level and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon.

If he puts his shovel aside, he can really help some of the younger talent and turn them into potential stars. Superstars like Wade Barrett or Antonio Cesaro could benefit from having a feud with The Game.

As for the Triple H and Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania, look for Triple H to pick up the victory thanks to his friend Shawn Michaels.

    Winner: Triple H

The Undertaker vs. CM Punk

7 of 9

CM Punk and The Undertaker are going to steal the show at this year’s WrestleMania. The outcome may be predictable, but the match itself will be filled with twists and turns that will have the fans on the edge of their seats.

The feud has been fantastic and the two wrestlers involved are certified WWE Hall of Famers.

CM Punk has been disrespecting The Undertaker for the past month and finally, on last week’s episode of Raw, the Deadman got his revenge. It was the first time we saw The Undertaker get physical since Raw 1000.

With reports of CM Punk taking time off immediately after his WrestleMania 29 match, the final outcome seems to be much more obvious.

The Undertaker will defeat CM Punk, but that will not be the end of their story.

Punk will dish out his best stuff when he faces Undertaker, but it won’t be enough. I expect Taker to win cleanly, but I have a feeling the WWE is going to incorporate the Paul Bearer storyline even more, considering it’s been the center of the feud.

Look for the lights to go out when Punk has the advantage in the match.

Triple H and Shawn Michaels each had two tries to slay the Phenom and they couldn’t get the job done. Now it's Punk's turn to lose and get his rematch at WrestleMania 30.

    Winner: The Undertaker

WWE Championship: (c) The Rock vs. John Cena

8 of 9

The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28 was appealing and exciting. Two of the biggest Superstars in WWE history were going one-on-one to see who the better wrestler was.

The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 29 doesn’t feel as exciting as their first encounter, even though the match is more important now that the WWE Title is up for grabs.

    So, what’s the problem?

Part of the problem is that nobody wants to see John Cena in the main event for the third consecutive WrestleMania, which is completely understandable. The other part of the problem is that The Rock hasn’t been able to further his feud with John Cena because he’s missed two vital weeks of Raw. WWE fans know he has to film Hercules, but it just looks bad when the WWE champion is missing Raw when WrestleMania is less than a month away.

Both of them are responsible for making this match uninteresting.

With that said, The Rock is going to beat John Cena in their rematch at WrestleMania 29, just like Stone Cold Steve Austin beat The Rock in their rematch at WrestleMania 17.

Stone Cold Steve Austin beat The Rock at WrestleMania 15 and 17 before The Rock finally got a victory over the Texas Rattlesnake at WrestleMania 19. It took three tries for The Rock to beat Steve Austin, and the WWE is going to do the same thing with John Cena.

With Rock and Cena headlining last year’s event, WrestleMania 28 shattered records and made the WWE a lot of money. This year, the WWE played it safe and are having the same main event for the second straight year, and now that the WWE Title is on the line, they are expecting to draw in even more fans.

No matter what happens at WrestleMania 28, The Rock and John Cena will have a third match somewhere in the future.

But at the end of the show, I fully expect The Rock to leave WrestleMania 29 as the WWE champion.

    Winner: The Rock
