NBA, New York Knicks, Isiah Thomas, Donnie Walsh

Knicks fans, James Dolan has finally done something to celebrate.  Donnie Walsh, of Indiana Pacers lore, is coming to town.

He brings with him respectability, basketball knowledge, drive, and media savviness—all things that the Knicks' front office does currently have.  And that's including their Head Coach.

There are still a lot of details to be worked out, but this is absolutely a positive move for New York.  Coach Thomas may still be around and still have a "President" attached to his title, too, but Walsh is not one to put up with losing.

Walsh is a success.  He has had a hand in guiding the Pacers to six Eastern Conference finals appearances and four Central Division titles since 1986.  Imagine what he could do with a Michael Beasley or a Kevin Love.

Even though this season has been written off, just like the previous six (yes, this will be seven consecutive losing seasons), the Knicks may be headed in a positive direction.

It all starts at the top, and Donnie Walsh has been to the top of this game and may do quite well with the financial resources of the Knicks.

Word of advice, Donnie.  Get the fans back in love with this team.  Keep David Lee, Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford.

The rest of them?  Hmm, I'm not too sure.  Bad attitudes are one thing when they come in the form of John Starks or Charles Oakley.  They're another in the form of Stephon Marbury or Zach Randolph.

Yes, Knicks fans.  This is a great day.  A day to be remembered...  Long live the Walsh.

  1. Walsh is a brave man to take on the mess that is the Knicks. Having a roster filled with bad contracts means it's going to take a couple years just to get the team back on the right track.

Can Isaiah Thomas' coaching career be salvaged now that he's no longer in a position to make personnel decisions?

    1. I sure hope Thomas is gone. The problem is that his contract was just renewed last year, so they have a lot of money invested in him. They may keep him around in some capacity other than coach. That wouldn't be good either. That would just give him more time to talk to the ladies...
